That was true McKenna - an instigator - and she laughed hysterically the entire time That is what she, and so many other children, fight for - the ability to smile, to laugh, to find joy, to be with their families and friends. One of the few good memories of this time is when we were washing the car (the same day we came home from the proceedure mentioned above) and suddenly McKenna took the hose and started spraying her sister, and then us, turning it into an all-out water fight between our family. They want to run and play, to go in the jumpy, to have water balloon fights, to go to school, to see their friends. Children with cancer want to be free from hospital rooms filled with machines and doctors. And last night we were joined by an amazing pediatric brain cancer survivor and his mom who volunteered to work the stand. It helped to remind me what we are fighting for every day. We are fighting for children’s freedom from cancer. We met a woman whose brother was fighting GBM and thanked us for what we were doing. I had one father travel several cities over to visit our stand specifically because he had lost his 4 1/2 year-old daughter to brain cancer a year ago on the 5th. We have had two other DIPG families working alongside us. This 4th of July we have been working the McKenna Claire Foundation fireworks booth raising funds for pediatric brain cancer research. Initially the two large windows to the front of the unit provide an ideal showcase for the retail unit, and in turn the various produce themselves.ĮDP set out to maximise on this put great emphasis on creating functional, bespoke display units, whilst utilising the counter for additional display areas to take full advantage of the clear sight lines of passers by. The main hurdle to overcome was getting people to come inside the new shop in order to purchase produce, rather than previously operating as a walk by counter service, as they had done for so many years. Vienna wanted to maintain their current unit as purely the functional bakery side of operations, and then to relocate their sales side of the business to the new unit to continue to sell their produce direct to their customers. With an already strong presence in St Helier’s Central Market, Vienna Bakery took the opportunity of acquiring the recently vacated unit opposite their existing premises in order to expand their business.
